And I'd just like to add that the Egyptian, Muslim couple was an example of a wildly different culture from white Methodist Iowans, not a commentary on the familial quality of either group. Is it just me, or is that not obvious?

I think it's obvious. I also think some of the Babble readers are being willfull in ignoring the points you're making.

I think the entire reason this is a debate is because people insist on missing the point.
At the end of the day a law was not followed. Almost every debate I have heard or read and almost every news article I have read ignores this point.
The media has portrayed this as "child removed from home after 6 months" and everyone has jumped on that band wagon.
I am shocked at how few people are outraged at the agency. I have seen many post from people wanting to adopt. My first concern would be who is this agency so I can steer clear.
I am not convinced that the adoptive parents were as ignorant as the media wants us to believe. It is kind of hard to fathom that in the days of instant information a person wanting to build their family through adoption would not be very well versed before starting the process.
