you know what strikes me as funny? That in my country it is illegal for a church to marry anyone. Marriage is a civil procedure. Afterwards you are allowed to et a blessing. Even the roman catholick church can't legally marry someone here.
Of course I live in the 21 st century version of Sodom and Gomora to some but they are wrong! Being a follower of Christ is about love not hate and care not law

You can actually see her start to seethe and foam as the conversation continues. I wonder if her eyes were bugging out in the process too. (insert eye roll here).

As you said, good look to moviegirl in trying to raise her child in a cave. I come from a Mennonite area (think, slightly more modern than Amish), and even they/we can't raise them in a cave anymore.

Well, my six-year old daughter knows that you don't be mean to someone, treat them badly, or treat them unfairly, just because they're different ... and she knows that includes women married to women and men married to men. So I guess moviegirl better be hoping real hard that her child doesn't end up in school with mine. Mine'll clear things up. ;)

(insert one more eye roll in moviegirl's direction)

Obviously, I meant moviegirl was the one transforming into the seething and the foaming and the eye-bugging. And 'good look to moviegirl' should obviously read: good luck to movie girl in trying to raise her child in a cave.

I need some sleep. Maybe after the election.

My goodness, y'all are a heck of a lot more patient than I am.

I'm straight (and pregnant), and I expect to be talking to my future son about the fact that there are both gay and straight people in this world. Gah.

I'll be voting No on Prop 8 tomorrow. (And for those of you in CA, I'll add, No on Prop 4 as well.)

And obviously, since heterosexuality is a sexual orientation, she doesn't plan to inform her kids about her own existence, because that would be inappropriate sexual information.

Thought of you this morning when I read my paper Shannon. As you might know we have a christian government again. And it made some of us a bit scared on gaymarriage. This morning the minister of familybussiness who wants to encourage more people to get support raising their kids. And who is quite a conservative christian (dutch standards of course) said in my paper: when I say families matter it is not up to me or the government to define the definition of family: Be it divorced parents, married parents living together parents or gay parents. All should be able to get easy acces to help them with parenting.

America and Europe are so different but I hope America moves away form hate a bit more today! Fingers crossed for all of you!

Well it looks like Prop 8 has passed. I just don`t get it. I can`t believe to understand WHY.

I am so happy that Obama won, but this has taken the wind out of my sails.

Comments ...you are right SC! I just want everyone to know I witnessed the most beautiful wedding ceremony over the weekend at the Stanford Memorial Chapel in Palo Alto! There were friends, family all there to support the couple! There wasn't a dry eye in the room (no exaggeration)! I wasn't all that aware of Prop8 before going out to CA for the weekend, but boy did the media do a quick and dirty job on educating us! (not one obama mccain ad to be seen but Prop 8 and some other one were all over the media)! Prop 8 or no Prop 8, no one can take away the bond and union between two people NO MATTER their sexual orientation. They can make it harder to access certain things, but the bond is between two people, and a sacred one at that.

Rachel

You're all to be admired for your persistence and patience on this. I really wonder what the heck moviegirl was trying to do, because it didn't seem to involve having a give-and-take dialogue on the issue. Kudos for giving it the best try you could.
