What about you? When you pray for your family--first or adoptive--or yourself as an adoptee, what do you consider?
Thanks for your help!

I was baptized Methodist and was brought up to pray for guidance and strength, not specific goals. When I pray for others, whomever they are, I pray that they will receive guidance and strength to face whatever challenges they are presented with. I am adopted.

What a great question. I don't know that I have ever formally prayed for my birthmom, but I often keep her in my thoughts. I feel gratitude for the sacrifice she made for me and hope that she has been able to find peace with her decision.
As for my adoptive family, I pray for them as any child would pray for their family. I don't automatically think of them as my "adoptive" family. They are my family, period. So, I don't know that I can add anything specific to those prayers.
If you want any elaboration, e-mail me and I'd be glad to think further on the topic.
